Kohler Headquarters, company’s premises
Kohler, 2015 - 2017
Project: “restyling” of the existing settlement that extends over an area of 170,000 square meters with various types of interventions: new construction, partial renovation of buildings, redesign of external areas and green areas project.
Thanks to the acquisition of the Lombardini brand, in 2012 Kohler created the European headquarters for the “engines” sector in Reggio Emilia and in 2015 began the renewal of the entire industrial settlement. The industrial site includes a large production area, warehouses, offices, laboratory areas, engineering development and dedicated services for a total of 700 workers including workers and employees.

The whole intervention was aimed at minimizing the view on the parking lots and providing open and clean spaces around the buildings. Some new construction interventions have been made to create new walkways and more livable and representative entrance areas. The primary materials used for outdoor areas are exposed concrete and large green areas.

The restyling of the buildings involved the removal of obsolete structures and the application of a new "skin" made from light and partial covering surfaces such as fabric and perforated metal sheet. All the facades, coordinated by a single color, create a continuity between the different architectural volumes of diverse nature and function.
