Kohler HQ, company’s premises interiors
Kohler, 2016-2018
Thanks to the acquisition of Lombardini brand by Kohler in 2012 the European headquarters for the “engines” sector has been created in Reggio Emilia. The overall project foresees a “restyling” of the existing settlement with different kinds of interventions on a 170,000 sq. m. total area. The interior design begins in 2016 and is carried out in lots in order to allow the continuity of the activities with partial transfer of the employees to temporary dedicated areas. The project starts from the study of the distribution and functional layout up to the detail design of all the characterizing elements. To ensure consistency in the intervention that provides spaces of various kinds in independent buildings, a detailed study of the materials, colors and graphic elements is conducted.

The receptions areas are characterized by a diffused natural light and by the use of high quality finishes such as the natural brushed oak essence used for the boiserie created through thermoformed panels with low relief graphics. The stoneware flooring in the entrance areas is combined with the vinyl tatami of the same color in the open space and meeting areas.

There are many vertical glass surfaces that bring spaces into direct visual communication and that are enriched and identified through the sign deriving from the logo, studied in the degree of transparency to allow the right balance between visibility and privacy.

The operational areas are developed in open spaces characterized by the predominance of white to give an overall sense of cleanliness, order, visual openness and visibility. The graphic applications of the logos and images representing the various application worlds become visual spatial references.

Also the guesthouse, respecting the company’s attitude, has sober and clean interiors in continuity with the spaces of work activities.
